DaunPapua

Exploration of the deep-sea benthic biodiversity of Papua New Guinea

Objectives

DAUNPAPUA is an oceanographic cruise co-organised by the Laboratory of Environmental Marine Sciences (LEMAR, France) and the National Museum of Natural History in Paris (MNHN), and supported by the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG). Its goal is to inventory and study the deep-sea benthic fauna of Papua New Guinea and is part of the Tropical Deep Sea Benthos research program.

Sampling

Interactive sampling map, isobaths printed between 100 and 1000m (the working range of NO Antea during DAUNPAPUA), every 50 m. Bathymetric data from GEBCO 2026. Click on the markers to get the sampling station name (CP for trawl, DW for dredge) and its depth range.

• Cruise information (eg permits), sampling information (date, time, coordinates, depth, gear, etc) for each station along with deck photos are published in SEANOE [coming soon].
